Die Authorized Version, allgemein bekannt als King James Version, King James Bible oder KJV, ist eine englische Übersetzung der christlichen Bibel durch die Church of England, die 1604 begonnen und 1611 fertiggestellt wurde. Zuerst gedruckt vom King es Printer Robert Barker, war dies die dritte offizielle Übersetzung ins Englische. Die erste war die Große Bibel, die von der Church of England in der Regierungszeit von König Heinrich VIII. in Auftrag gegeben wurde, und die zweite war die Bischofsbibel von 1568. Im Januar 1604 beriefen König Jakob VI. von Schottland und ich von England die Hampton Court Conference ein, auf der eine neue englische Version als Reaktion auf die wahrgenommenen Probleme der früheren Übersetzungen konzipiert wurde, wie sie von den Puritanern, einer Fraktion innerhalb der Church of England, entdeckt wurden.
Der Titel der ersten Ausgabe der Übersetzung lautete "THE HOLY BIBLE, containing the Old Testament, AND THE NEW: Newly Translated out of the Original tongues: & with the former Translations diligently compared and revised, by his Majesties special Commandment".
